Building on a Tradition of Service
2011 marks the third Compassion Weekend, building on previous successful outreach efforts. In 2010, our church was able to prepare and feed Columbus homeless, assist with building affordable homes, and improve the appearance of First English Lutheran Church and Jacob’s Porch (OSU Lutheran campus ministry) through gardening and remodeling efforts, including a new kitchen at Jacob’s Porch. We assisted older adults through Meals-on-Wheels and a nursing home. Through St. Sophia & Traveling Rest Baptist church we fed many who attended the “Curb Violence” event. Finally, we worked with the youth at Oesterlen and completed a hiking trail, while the day before we enjoyed their company during a volleyball game.
